Subject: Appointment of Vicar

Hello everyone,

Following the interview held at St Matthews Church last Tuesday, I am pleased to announce that the appointment team has received confirmation from Bishop Julian that the candidate has been offered and accepted the post of Vicar. The interview team were unanimous in the decision to offer the post to Alistair McHaffie.

The statement below will be made at St Matthews, St Matthews Mission and St James, on Sunday 21st January (today).

As you will appreciate, announcements have to be carried out simultaneously to all congregations involved, including a statement at Alistair's current church, St Johns Leyland.

Our statement -

“We would like to formally announce that we have been notified by Bishop Julian Henderson, that Alistair McHaffie has been offered, and accepted the post of Vicar of the Parish of the Risen Lord, Preston. Alistair is currently Vicar of St Johns Leyland, and an announcement is also being made there, this morning. We do not have a start date yet, and the appointment is subject to the usual checks, but this is likely to be in April.”

We give thanks to God for this appointment, and the unity we have experienced through the process, and I would ask that we continue to pray throughout this transition period.
